Short description
This project developed in terms of time and activities the joint project started in 2019 between the Center for Legal Aid Voice in Bulgaria and the Foundation for Access to Rights PHARE under the same programme.
By providing legal assistance to asylum seekers, refugees and migrants, and by advocating with officials working with them and judges, the project aimed to bring about individual human rights outcomes and changes in institutional and judicial practices and legislation.
We implemented these objectives through several key activities:
- Holistic legal assistance, supported by psychological opinions – legal consultations in the offices of the three organizations in Sofia and in the country; psychological and social assistance with experts from the Ministry of Justice; accompaniment of interviews in SAR centers, consultations in immigration detention centers and assistance in migration procedures in general, administrative and procedural representation before national and European courts and institutions;
- Advocacy in traditional and non-traditional forms with a rich legacy of expertise in the form of 19 opinions with recommendations on topics such as the substantive and procedural aspects of the international protection procedure; the specificities of first-time activated temporary protection; access to territory; regularization; children’s rights; immigration detention; expulsion; climate change and refugees.
- Communication and the search for creative channels for its implementation – stories of the main countries of origin of their people; culminating with the additional communication activity to which we have dedicated a special place at today’s event.
