This handbook aims to accumulate the experience gained over the years in a practical tool and to serve as an effective tool for officers working in the field or making decisions on the determination of alternative measures to immigration detention, helping them to resolve specific cases and situations in line with established international standards and principles.
The handbook was compiled by the Centre for Legal Aid – Voice in Bulgaria Foundation under the project “Moving Forward: sustaining progress and ensuring a lasting reduction in migration policies based on power-based methods and practices”, funded by the European Programme on Integration and Migration (EPIM), a joint initiative of the Network of European Foundations (NEF). Since 2017, the Centre for Legal Aid – Voice in Bulgaria Foundation has been focusing on immigration detention and its application in Bulgaria.
