On September 18 and 19, the “Voice in Bulgaria” Legal Aid Center hosted the annual meeting of the European network From Sea to City. The network works with European municipalities to provide essential services and create inclusive conditions at the local level that respect the fundamental rights of migrants and those seeking protection in Europe.
The meeting was attended by representatives of various European and international organizations, and it served as a valuable platform for exchanging experiences regarding the political context in different European countries, the implementation of the EU Pact on Asylum and Migration, and the shrinking space for civil society in Europe.
It was particularly important that the meeting was held in Sofia and that the focus was placed on the situation in Bulgaria, with the aim of preventing our country from remaining a “blind spot” in European discussions and policies on asylum and migration.
The event is part of the project “Citizen Participation and Monitoring of the Asylum and Migration System,” funded by the Government of the Swiss Confederation through the Swiss-Bulgarian Cooperation Program under the Mechanism for Civic Engagement and Transparency 2024–2029.
