Short Discription : Through this project, we aim to work towards reducing the risks of AI systems in migration and border control by strengthening accountability, protection, and empowerment by strengthening the protection of human rights in the stages of registration, identification, and application for protection by people on the move.

  • Accountability: By documenting cases of harmful use of AI at borders, we would show its connection to border violence. With examples from such situations, we will insist that the responsible authorities—governments, corporations, and law enforcement agencies—take responsibility.
  • Protection: We advocate for stronger policies to protect migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers from AI abuse, with the aim of reducing disproportionate impacts on vulnerable groups.
  • Community power: Through training, workshops, and coalition building, we empower local organizations and migrant-led groups with the tools to defend their communities’ rights and document violations.
  • Systemic change: By raising awareness among policymakers and the public, we strive for technology governance that focuses on human rights, dignity, transparency, and fairness.

The main objective to join forces and expertiese at this project, is to bring lasting change at the domain of protection for people on the move. We would be focusing at using those new technologies that are primarily designed for control, without exploiting their potential for law enforcement to serve for protection of individuals and the rights of migrants and refugees.
