Stand In The Gap

On the 15th of June, for the Refugee Week 2026, fourteen organisations working with refugees, asylum seekers and people on the move are coming together as the Stand in The Gap Coalition.

Across different countries and areas of work, we share one purpose: to help fill the gap between what people on the move need and what systems currently provide.

Together, we are launching a two-week collaborative fundraising campaign starting on the 15th of June to raise €75,000 for direct, practical support.

Across Europe and beyond, people who have fled war, persecution, violence and instability are being left without the basic support they need to rebuild their lives.

Families are homeless. Children are growing up in uncertainty. People seeking safety struggle daily to access healthcare, legal advice, education, food, housing and community support.

Why €75,000? – Our target is €75,000 because 2026 marks 75 years since the 1951 Refugee Convention — the international agreement setting out the rights of refugees and the responsibilities of states to protect them.

Seventy-five years later, those principles matter as much as ever. But protection must mean more than words on paper. It must mean shelter, legal aid, healthcare, food, safety, learning, community and hope.

Before the campaign begins, we are asking you to help build momentum: tell others about Stand in The Gap, keep some space free during Refugee Week, and think about how you could fundraise, share or take part. During Refugee Week, organisations across the coalition will host online and in-person events. We will share details of talks, gatherings and fundraising activities soon. The first £10,000 of the campaign will be matched by a generous supporter. Help us get there!

What your support made possible last year

We want donors to see clearly how support is used. Last year, donations helped provide safe housing, legal support, healthcare, food, education, clothing, casework, emergency aid and community support to people on the move across Europe and beyond.
