Short Description: Through this project, we aim to reduce the risks of harmful AI systems in migration and border control by strengthening accountability, protections, and community power.
- Accountability: We document cases of harmful AI use at borders, highlight its connection to border violence, and call on responsible actors — governments, corporations, and law enforcement — to be held accountable.
- Protection: We advocate for stronger policies to safeguard migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers from AI misuse, reducing the disproportionate impact on vulnerable groups.
- Community Power: Through training, workshops, and coalition-building, we equip local organizations and migrant-led groups with tools to defend their communities’ rights and document violations.
- Systemic Change: By raising awareness among policymakers and the public, we aim for human-rights–centered governance of technology, prioritizing dignity, transparency, and justice.
Our goal is to achieve lasting change that protects people on the move in the face of technologies that are primarily used for control, rather than realizing their potential for protection.
