Migration remains prominent on the European agenda even though it is a relatively recent issue of concern. Today, it is one of the key themes provoking political and civic debates. It is not by accident that many people see it as the litmus test that will determine the future of the European Union. Voices for more solidarity and calls for more security create an environment where finding sustainable solutions is becoming more and more challenging, and the need for dialogue – inevitable.
Migration is also central to the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. It is in this context that the conference aims to bring together institutional and civic visions, national and European perspectives. The event will be held in two panels: „Migration Policy and Presidency of the Council of the EU“ and „Citizens’ Perspectives and Initiatives“. Representatives of Bulgarian institutions, members of the European Parliament, international organizations, European and Bulgarian non-governmental organizations are invited to participate.
An introductory speech will be delivered by Her Excellency Ms. Iliana Iotova, Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria.
